Portchester Pétanque Club was set up as a group activity to create a meeting place to pursue both social and sporting objectives, whilst playing the game of pétanque. All ages are welcome, including those with mobility or health limitations.
Created in 1988, the club now has approximately 80 members. We have two 6-a-side league teams, Pirates and Pumas both currently competing in Division 3 West.
Club sessions for children are FREE to encourage an interest in the sport and are led by qualified Pétanque England coaches and all helpers are DBS checked.

The club has 2 featured competitions on the SCPA calendar annually, the Portchester Open Plate Doubles and the Charity Mêlée. Our chosen charity for 2025 was Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association which thanks to everyone who attended raised an appreciable £509.20.
We also hold numerous community events throughout the year such as the Vannes Twinning Group from Fareham and the Solent Woodcarvers which has promoted our sport whilst rekindled friendships locally.
In recent months, the shelter has been renovated and extended to improve coverage and hold more coaching equipment to benefit the increasing number of club members and SCPA visitors.
