Here at Bordon Pétanque Club, our heritage dates back to the early nineties. Until the last couple of years, our membership had a solid base of 15 members but since our come and try days and our recruitment drive, our membership has grown rapidly to over fifty active players, and it’s still on the rise.
As all our members hold a PE Licence, we are able to field 5 teams in the SCPA leagues. Additionally, we have 3 teams in the unaffiliated North Downs League, the forerunner to the higher standard of the SCPA league. Many of us eagerly participate in Open, Regional and National competitions.
Located in Bordon, Hampshire, we currently use two terrains, during the evenings we play at the Bordon Enterprise Park and our main home is located at the BOSC, Bolley Avenue, Bordon, Hampshire GU35 9HG. We have 12 pistes where the surfaces differ to offer cater for all styles of play.
We are able to enjoy the facilities of the nearby Pavilion’s bar and excellent bar food menu. We hold club sessions three times each week, 10.30 am on Tuesdays and Saturdays and 7.30pm on Thursdays.
Our latest news is after months of hard work, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our very first website – www.bordonpetanqueclub.co.uk. Many, many thanks go to Dominic Head, our Chairman Mike Head’s son, who has designed and built the site, and worked closely with our Committee to produce a professional-standard web destination which is stylish, informative and very practical.
Features include a secure Members Only area, where Club memberships can be managed, and details accessed of our league teams and competition results. The News, Gallery and Events pages will provide a continuous flow of information about the club and provide the opportunity to include National and Regional matters of interest.
We are particularly looking forward to launching on-line our new season social programme which enables members to enjoy each other’s company away from the terrain while fund raising for both our club and our nominated charity which for 2025 is Cancer Research. Entries for Club Competitions can also be now completed via the web site on-line registration facility. This means entrants will have an immediate confirmation and record of their entry, and our administrators have a much simpler process to oversee. We are currently working on setting up a payment section which will allow all future Open competitions to be paid for on-line. A winner for everyone!
