After a difficult first 18 months due to covid, Clymping Pétanque Club held their first ever Open Triples Competition on Sunday 8th August. 12 teams battled it out in torrential rain for a place in the afternoon’s Gold Knockout. Having got totally drenched, we then stopped for lunch and a dry-out in the bar in preparation for the afternoon. Fortunately, the rain stopped, and the sun even made a welcome appearance for an hour or so!
We had 8 teams in the Gold Knockout and the remaining 4 played a 3-game snake for the Spoon.
There was an amazing range of players from all four corners of the region and beyond. (One player travelled all the way up from South Wales!)
It was particularly pleasing to see so many new players from Clymping (13) enter this event, many playing in their first ever Open.
We have had numerous messages of thanks from players who all agreed that, despite the rain, they had a lovely day and can’t wait for the next one!
Well done everyone and thank you all for supporting us. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
