Gianni Dalmasso 1939 – 2020
We are very sad to have to tell you of the passing of another of our region’s great characters, Gianni Dalmasso of Southampton City Petanque Club. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Gianni was a fine player, winning the Regional Singles in 1999. The following year, he became the first player to successfully defend this title and to this day only one other player has achieved this feat. He won the Regional Doubles with his wife Hilary, in 2005. He also represented the Southern region on several occasions at the Inter-Regionals, playing in the championship from 2002 to 2004 and in the challenge in 2012. He was also drafted in to play as ‘Devon 4’ in 2006!
Our thoughts are with Hilary and family at this difficult time.
