After the SCPA AGM on Sunday, December 8th, eighteen players stayed on to enjoy Lyn’s soup and play in the SCPA Winter Melee at Burridge.
The first of the four 30-minute rounds was played in wintery sunshine but as the second round began some very dark clouds rolled in and it looked like the heavy rain could bring about an early end to the afternoon’s play. Fortunately it soon blew over in the strong wind and there were blue skies for the rest of the competition.
After three rounds only Dave Stubbs, Mike Sheppard and Malcom Berrett had won all three games. Malcolm lost his final game while Dave and Mike were drawn to play against each other. Dave and Kath ran out 13-5 winners to give Dave the top prize and push Kath up into 4th place. John Denis, having narrowly lost 5-7 in the first round won his next three to take 2nd place and Tony Giordano was 3rd.
At the end of the four rounds it was back into the clubhouse for some of Lyn’s lovely cake while Alison Stubbs added up the scores and the prizes were given out.
