The finals of the 2017/18 SCPA Winter Doubles were played at Burridge on Saturday, March 24th. From an initial entry of 20 the following teams qualified for the finals:

The final took place on cloudy but fairly mild day at Burridge, It was great to see two of our juniors, Marc and Jamie, amongst the eight qualifiers. The teams played in two leagues of four in the morning with the top two teams from each league going forward to contest the semi-finals and the other teams playing for places. Steve and Karen were undefeated in League 1 with Dave and Richard in 2nd place. Graham and Jamie won League 2 on points difference from Mark and Hassi, with both teams winning two games. Rod and Glenn also won 2 games and were unfortunate to miss out on a semi-final place. Graham and Jamie beat Dave and Richard 13-6 in one semi-final while Steve and Karen were beating Mark and Hassi 13-10 in the other.
The final was another close game with Steve and Karen just beating Graham and Jamie 13-9 to take the title, unbeaten on the day, and on Steve’s birthday! Although frequent winners of the Summer Doubles, this was only the second time they had won the Winter Doubles together. The first time was way back in 1983/84 before they were married!
