We are sad to report the passing of a dear friend, Dave Wicks, in January 2024.
Dave was a long time member of Leatherhead Petanque and Oxshott Petanque clubs. He played in the North Downs League (NDL) for the Moles and also in the SCPA six-a-side league.
Dave was proficient in both pointing and shooting and was the first person to win the club’s Founders Cup undefeated, winning all six qualifying events.
He was very competitive, having a strong will to win and was always one of the first names on the team sheet come match days.
Dave’s other interests included music, especially blues, and running, where he regularly competed at the birthplace of the Park Run, Bushy Park close to his home.
Sadly, his sporting career came to an abrupt end when he suffered a stroke, some years back.
