Welcome to West Meon and Warnford Petanque Club

Since the summer of 2022, there has been a semi-regular local “Boules” club operating in and around West Meon in the hope and expectation that one day there would be a site where a local club can be based.

Until January 2025, the club has organised between 6 to 10 club evenings a year during the summer months. Mainly, these events have been held in Floud Lane, a gravelled road next to the West Meon Church, but games have also been played on the Petersfield Boules Court and a gravelled drive in Easton, courtesy of a friendly but competitive village Club.

In late 2024 the organisers of the Boules Club found that there was a possibility of locating the home site of the Club on the driveways of the West Meon Church. After consultation with the members of the Parochial Church Council (PCC), it was agreed in principle that this should be allowed as from 1 January 2026.

The Club members are extremely grateful to the PCC for agreeing to these arrangements and hope that they will facilitate a positive growth in cross village communications and friendships.

Normally the turnout for these evenings in the spring and summer months has been between 20 and 30 local Boules enthusiasts, drawn from a Whatsapp Group with over 60 individuals who have expressed an interest in Boules.

As of 1 January 2026 a formal Club has been established and registered with Petanque England. It has 40 founder members all of whom are members of PE, with 14 being paid up competitor members. The Club has its home ground in the driveways of St John the Evangelist Church in West Meon.
